License Plate Reader Helps Officers Recover Stolen Car

An automatic license plate reader in Corning has led to the recovery of a stolen car. The device reads all license plates that come within its range and runs the numbers through records, then alerts a human staff member if it hits on a wanted vehicle. At 7:40PM Monday night the machine at Solano Street and Edith Avenue had a positive reading on a 2016 Toyota Camry that had been stolen from Shaun Davis. It was seen on camera heading east on Solano Street so Corning Police Officers went to intercept it and minutes later they caught up to it on Hoag Road. The occupants immediately stopped and surrendered. Michael Laurence Fowler was booked into Tehama County Jail.
