The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has determined that a man was justified in shooting his girlfriend’s ex husband in the leg. Saturday afternoon a fight broke out at a home on Willow Street in Cottonwood between 30-year-old Joseph Ruth and 25-year-old Tanner Bull. Ruth is the ex-husband of Crystal Paris and Bull is her current boyfriend. Ruth had allegedly made threats earlier in the day, saying he would stab Bull. With that in mind, Bull saw Ruth reach into his pocket while they were fighting so Bull pulled out a gun and shot Ruth in the leg. Ruth was treated at a hospital for his gunshot wound and then booked into jail for terrorist threats and assault.
