Two Arrested In Stolen Car After Running Out Of Gas

Anderson Police say a car thief made some modifications to a car to hide the fact it had been stolen, but failed to fill up the gas tank. At 2:30AM Saturday morning an officer saw a Lexus sedan in the Wal-Mart parking lot, but the Lexus badging had been removed and it had a Toyota logo on the hood. It also had license plates registered to a Dodge pickup truck. The officer tried to stop the car but the driver sped away, at first driving eastbound on the westbound side of Pleasant Hills Drive and then north on Highway 273 at 80 miles an hour. When the car reached Thomas Avenue it crossed into the opposing lanes of the highway. The car soon slowed down and gradually came to a stop at Whitehouse Drive after running out of fuel. The two occupants refused officers’ orders to get out, instead continuing to try in vain to get it started. Eventually Aero the K-9 was used to encourage the two to give up. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Carla Denise Bledsoe, was taken to the ground by Aero. She had a no bail arrest warrant for Shasta County and the passenger, 38-year-old Jericho Johnson, had multiple felony warrants in Siskiyou County. Inside the car officers say they found a fake handgun, Meth pipes and a tampered ignition. Bledsoe was treated at a hospital for her dog bites and she and Johnson were both booked into jail.
