A suspect in a kidnapping from last weekend was captured. At 3 O’clock Friday afternoon Redding Police investigators located 43-year-old Fred Marion Sanderson near Garden Avenue and Gold Street. He’s suspected in last week’s assault and kidnapping of a 29-year-old woman who was abandoned in a remote area of the forest near Hat Creek with nothing but a pair of shorts. She had been accused of stealing drugs. The woman took shelter inside a burned out tree overnight and was saved the next day when a group of people showed up in the area looking for a Christmas tree. Suffering from exposure, the victim was transported to a Redding hospital. the other suspect, Johanna Knighton, was arrested last Tuesday. Sanderson was booked into jail for conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, torture, kidnapping, robbery and criminal threats.
