Oak Run Man Sentenced For Fatal Crash In Tehama County

An Oak Run man has been sentenced for a fatal DUI crash. In August of last year, 28-year-old Ian Clair MacDowell and a friend spent an evening of dinner and gambling, followed by drinks. After a few drinks at a bar the two went to a different bar and drank some more. When they left, MacDowell was drunk. He lost control of the car and drove off the road, striking multiple trees and a power pole. When the dust settled, MacDowell’s friend was dead. MacDowell’s blood alcohol level tested at more than twice the legal limit. Convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, he’s been sentenced to 4 years in state prison.
