At 4:22am a Toyota Camry was being driven way too fast on Balls Ferry Road a little south of Deschutes Road when the driver, identified by the CHP as 27-year-old Alexander Kirby, lost control and the car left the pavement, colliding with a tree, a fence, a utility pole and the back end of a parked car. Kirby was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. His passenger, a 22-year-old Redding man, died at the scene.
