Redding Police Say Drugs, Illegal Guns Found in East Redding Search

Redding Police say they expected a lot of drugs and found a lot of guns when they raided a home on Wednesday. Assisted by the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force and parole agents, the Neighborhood Police Unit served a search warrant to cap a month-long investigation into possible drug dealing by 52-year-old Danny Dean Oetzel. He also had a warrant for failing the Sheriff’s work release program. When the team arrived at Oetzel’s trailer in the Starlight Mobile Estates on East Cypress Avenue, nobody would come to the door. Eventually officers forced their way inside and found 5 people, including Oetzel. The search allegedly turned up 30 grams of methamphetamine and evidence of sales. Police also reported finding nine guns, none of which were legal to possess because of Oetzel’s past felonies. One gun had been reported stolen from New Mexico.
