Jaguar Chased By Police Crashes Into Bridge

A Redding man crashed an expensive sports car in east Redding, allegedly while trying to get away from police. At 1:55 Saturday morning a Redding Police officer saw a Jaguar speeding eastbound on Cypress Avenue and went after it as it turned south on Victor Avenue. With the lights and siren behind him, the Jaguar driver sped away down Victor Avenue, through the Hartnell Avenue intersection, past Conifer Way to the bridge over Churn Creek. That’s where the chase ended as the Jaguar struck the guardrail and then skidded to a stop. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jordan Lawrence Bettes, was allegedly drunk. He also has a suspended driver’s license and is on probation from a previous DUI. He was treated for minor injuries before being booked into jail.
