K9 Helps Officers Uncover Drugs And Several Guns

A man pulled over for tailgating ended up in a lot of trouble. Monday afternoon an Anderson Police Officer on Factory Outlets Drive saw a Toyota following another car by just a couple of feet. When they reached the round-a-bout there was almost a rear-end collision, so the officer pulled the Toyota over. As the driver stopped he flicked a lit cigarette out the window. 42-year-old Mark Toms reportedly admitted that his driver’s license was suspended, that he was on probation and post release supervision, and that he had drugs in the car. Chance the K-9 confirmed the presence of drugs and a search allegedly revealed Methamphetamine packaged for sales and a loaded pistol with the serial number removed. A follow-up search was done at Toms’ home in Anderson, where officers reported finding more Meth and two more guns with the serial numbers removed. 41-year-old Charles Rhodes was also at the house. He and Toms were both booked into jail.
