A Shasta County jury has found a man guilty of drunk driving charges following his arrest last year with an alarming amount of alcohol in his system. On July 3rd Michael Kent McCarty ran out of gas and his Mini Cooper rolled to a stop on the shoulder of southbound Interstate Five near Riverside Drive in Anderson. A CHP Officer stopped just after 6PM and immediately noticed McCarty’s drunkenness. He was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center, where a blood draw was taken an hour later. It showed a blood alcohol content of .339. That astonishing level is nearly five times the legal limit.
