Woman Kills Family Members Before Burning Home In Bella Vista

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 4 people who were killed in what officials are calling a murder suicide in Bella Vista. On the evening of January 7th, firefighters were called to a fully involved structure fire at 11935 Bella Vista Court. Inside the damaged home crews found the bodies of 4 people who have been identified as 68-year-old Teresa Mae Wilson, 69-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, 44-year-old Ellis Leroy Wilson the 2nd, and 20-year-old Zoe Lynn Wilson. Gary and Teresa were married and their son Ellis was married to Zoe. All 4 victims lived at the home. The major crimes unit and arson investigators have determined that Gary, Ellis, and Zoe were murdered and all were found with multiple gunshots. An autopsy indicates that they were killed before the fire was started because there was no signs of smoke inhalation in their airways. The sheriff’s office says that Teresa’s death has been ruled a suicide from a self inflicted gunshot to the head. A burnt .380 semi-automatic handgun was found in her lap during the initial investigation, and the firearm was known to belong to her. Teresa’s autopsy showed smoke in her airways and that indicates she was alive during the fire. Several shell casings were found in the home and were matched to the handgun. Investigators have determined that Teresa was responsible for the deaths of Gary, Ellis and Zoe. She also is believed to have shot 3 dogs who were found in the home. 2 cats were also found and they were likely killed in the fire. Cal-Fire arson investigators say that the fire was intentionally started in the northwest room of the home. Authorities have interviewed surviving family members and they reported there had been long term tension between the family members, but the investigation is ongoing.
