Man Faces 140 Years After Conviction On Child Porn Charges

An Anderson resident arrested with a huge collection of child pornography has been convicted in federal court. Working from a lead out of Ohio, investigators raided the home of 49-year-old James Jay Hitt in January of 2013. He brandished a knife at them before they seized a desktop computer, an 80 gigabyte hard drive and several data storage disks. Eventually the FBI gleaned more than 4,000 images and dozens of videos of child pornography and Hitt was taken into custody in June of 2015.  A six day trial that concluded Friday showed that Hitt interacted with a 12 person network of child pornographers and managed a child porn blog.  He messaged people through a Russian website that served as a platform for people to trade and discuss child porn.  A federal jury found Hitt guilty of receiving, distributing and possessing child pornography. He faces a maximum of 140 years in federal prison and fines totaling more than a Million Dollars when he’s sentenced in April.
