Sheriff’s Office Seeking Info After Cow Found Shot To Death

The beef industry is a big deal in Tehama County, so the sheriff’s office takes it very seriously when a cow is shot, apparently for no particular reason. The 5-year-old bred Charolais cow valued at $1500 was shot by a high velocity round while grazing in her winter pasture in the area of Acorn Hollow Road in Vina sometime between January 14th and 16th. No meat was taken. The cow was shot and left to die where she fell. The owner is listed as 24-year-old Brooke Hencratt of Proberta. Officials have not said if she’s related to Tehama County Sheriff Dave Hencratt. Anyone with information is urged to call 529-7920.
