Shasta County Deputies Arrest Couple Accused Of Theft In Oroville

A Burney-area couple was recognized by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies, leading to their arrests in a shoplifting case out of Oroville. A surveillance photograph was released a week ago by Oroville Police showing three people wanted for thefts from the Oroville Wal-Mart.  Burney-area deputies believed two of them to be Aaron and Lyna Phipps, who they had contacted a number of times for alleged thefts and drug dealing. Based on that information, Oroville Police obtained a warrant, which was served by Shasta County Deputies at the Phipps home on Thrush Road in Cassel. Lyna was apprehended in the house, while Aaron was found under a trailer. A search allegedly revealed evidence of illegal drugs, a quad reported stolen to the CHP, and a chainsaw reported stolen to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, as well as items believed to be stolen during at least one other area burglary. Both Phippses were booked into jail on several charges. The identity of the third subject in the photo is not known.
