A man was apparently trying to do the right thing when he was stabbed in South Redding. Just before 9 O’clock Friday night 27-year-old Sean McCune was walking with his girlfriend on Westside Road and as they passed the Capri Motel they saw a woman they know as “Sphinx” being assaulted by a man they did not know. McCune tried to intervene and was stabbed multiple times by the assailant. Described as a white man in his 30’s with short dark hair, the suspect fled the scene and has not been found. McCune was transported to Mercy Medical Center to be treated for his stab wounds, and he has since been released. RPD investigators would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident or the suspect.
