Woman Sentenced To 300 Days For Worker’s Comp Fraud

A Tehama County woman has been sentenced for a major worker’s comp fraud case. Isabel Escareno and her husband owned a tree planting company based in Tehama County, and Isabel handled the accounting an payroll for the company. A state audit revealed that she underrepresented their business revenue to the State Compensation Insurance Fund, allowing them to underpay their state insurance premiums by more than $160,000. She’s been given 300 days in county jail and 5 years probation.
