Man Found Guilty Of Felony Animal Cruelty

A Shasta County jury has found a man guilty of felony charges for the mistreatment of his dog. The dog, named Kisses, was seized from Charles Sperry on December 9th by an animal control officer. She was extremely emaciated, described as only skin and bones. She had developed diabetes and had been losing weight over the course of 2 to 4 months. She was infested with fleas and suffering from various maladies due to neglect. Staff at the Haven Humane Society clinic tried to treat Kisses but she was too far gone and had to be euthanized. Sperry was convicted Wednesday of felony cruelty to animals. He’ll be sentenced at a later date.
