A 28-year-old Red Bluff woman will be arraigned Thursday morning on murder charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate Five and intentionally crashing head-on into another car, killing the driver. On January 7th 28-year-old Grace Elizabeth Ward was reportedly distraught and suicidal, and had been talking on her cell phone to someone about her intent to kill herself. She was driving her Chevy Impala southbound on Interstate Five between Redding and Anderson when she apparently drove through the median cable barrier. She sat on the roadside for about 7 minutes before heading south in the northbound lanes, according to Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett, who says ward drove directly toward another car. The driver was able to swerve out of the way so Ward allegedly tried it with another car, and then another, finally making head-on contact near Riverside Drive in Anderson with a car driven by a medical student from San Antonio, Texas. 29-year-old Ryan John Folsom died of his injuries after arriving at the hospital. Ward suffered a broken leg. Thursday Ward will be arraigned on charges that include second degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.
