Father Arrested After Welfare Check In Shasta Lake

Three young children and their mother were all taken into protective custody following the arrest of the father in the City of Shasta Lake Saturday afternoon. Shasta County Children and Family Services asked for help from the sheriff’s office to check on a home on Lassen Street, where they were told kids may be in danger. When they arrived they spoke with 32-year-old Kristopher Eichenhofer. He’s the father of the kids, aged 1, 6 and 7, and he’s also the caretaker of his developmentally disabled wife. He let the deputies in and they searched, reportedly finding several containers with Psilocybin Mushrooms growing in them. Cut marijuana plants were in the kitchen, pantry and living room, and a marijuana garden was growing in the backyard. Deputies also reported finding a loaded handgun in a desk drawer in the living room and a loaded shotgun on the floor of the master bedroom. One of the guns was apparently stolen from Oregon. Deputies say the mushrooms, the pot and the guns were all accessible by the children. Eichenhofer was booked into jail on several felony charges, and county officials took custody of his wife and kids.
