Elderly Woman Arrested After Allegedly Firing Gun At Neighbors

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office says an elderly Happy Valley woman was arrested after firing a gun at the family who lives next door. Shortly before 7 O’clock Friday night deputies were called to Dot Lane by Angela Rollins. She lives there with her husband and three children, who range in age from 8 to 10. Next door is the home of 84-year-old Betty Frances Sanders and her husband. Friday evening the entire Rollins family was in their front yard when Mr. and Mrs. Sanders approached the fence that separates the two properties. They had apparently come to complain. They were upset about the Rollins children riding motorcycles and being noisy. The exchange did not go well and turned into an argument that was allegedly punctuated by Mrs. Sanders pulling out a handgun and firing a round in the direction of the Rollins family, who were about 20 feet away. Fortunately nobody was hit. After speaking with Angela Rollins, deputies went next door and questioned Betty Sanders. A handgun was seized and she was arrested and booked into jail for assault with a firearm and child endangerment, with bail set at $50,000.
