Logging Truck Overturns On Highway 99 Near Vina

A logging truck made a very effective roadblock Monday afternoon on Highway 99 south of Red Bluff. Just before 3 O’clock, a Peterbilt with a full load of logs was a little north of Deer Creek when the driver, Ron Keebler of Red Bluff, allowed the rig to drift to the right. As the tires hit the edge of the roadway, Keebler noticed his error and pulled the wheel to the left, but he too abrupt and the tractor-trailer went into a slide, turned sideways, and tipped over. The rig slid south on the highway for a while as the logs rolled toward the east shoulder.  Keebler was not injured. A significant amount of diesel spilled from the truck’s ruptured tanks. Highway 99 was completely blocked for almost an hour and northbound traffic remained blocked for at least 2 hours. Traffic was diverted to South Avenue in Corning.
