Heroin Dealer Sentenced To A Decade In Federal Prison

A man responsible for putting a lot of Heroin on the streets of Redding has been sentenced to federal prison. On March 27th of 2015, Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force Agents pulled over two cars at the same Redding location. In the lead car was 44-year-old Eduardo Salinas-Garcia of Sonora Mexico. The car in the rear, being driven by one of Salinas-Garcia’s associates, was searched and 5.75 Pounds of Heroin was found in the trunk. Salinas-Garcia later told the whole story to federal agents. He was an American citizen living in Mexico and regularly smuggled large quantities of Heroin from Los Angeles to Redding. Text messages were recovered that showed he had been communicating for at least 7 months with a dealer in Redding, telling him to make deposits in bank accounts in the U.S. and Mexico. Salinas-Garcia provided agents the names of more than 10 banks and account numbers that were used for such payments. On Friday, Salinas-Garcia was sentenced to ten years in federal prison. Three Southern California co-defendants have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute Heroin and two of them have been given sentences of 3-years-10-months.
