Sheriff: Man Found Dead In Oak Run Area Was Murdered

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has released a few details about a homicide in the Oak Run area. At around 7 O’clock Monday morning deputies were sent to a home on Frontier Road in the Mill Creek Subdivision. The male victim was found inside the house. He had been shot at least once, possibly in the back of the head. An autopsy is set for Wednesday. The identity of the victim won’t be released until family is notified. No arrests have been made. Detectives say they’re trying to determine who shot the man and why. They say there’s no indication the general public is in danger. There had been reports that a loud boom was heard in the area prior to the discovery of the body. That boom apparently was on Saturday and was unrelated to the killing. Evidence was found that pointed to it being an acid bomb made with a soda bottle that was set off near the victim’s house. Anyone with information on the homicide is urged to contact the major crimes unit at 245-6135.
