Missing Woman Found Safe After RV Breaks Down

A Southern California woman who was missing has been found safe in Shasta County. 63-year-old Penelope Elizabeth Bax left her home in the San Diego area last Monday en route to a family member’s home in Bellingham, Washington. She was expected in Washington on Wednesday. When she still hadn’t arrived on Saturday she was reported missing. She apparently stayed a night at the Hirz Bay Campground near Lakehead, but that was her last known location. She was driving a white and gray Winnebago motorhome. At around 4:30PM Monday afternoon a CHP helicopter crew spotted the RV and landed. The vehicle had apparently become disabled in a remote area. Bax was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
