Man Pleads Guilty To Raping Woman, Faces 30 Year Sentence

A Redding man with multiple prior convictions has pleaded guilty to rape, and he may be in prison for the rest of his life. 51-year-old Lane Michael James accosted his victim on December 22nd near the Cloverdale Trailhead, on BLM property. The case was investigated by a BLM Ranger and Shasta County Sheriff’s Detectives. In addition to sexual assault charges, James also admitted in court Tuesday to stealing the victim’s car. James has been to prison four times and has prior strikes. He’ll be sentenced May 8th. As part of his plea deal he’ll get more than 30 years in state prison.
