Woman Who Tried To Bribe Deputy With Money Sentenced To 5 Years

A Red Bluff woman has been sentenced to prison after probation clearly was not enough. In July of last year a 46-year-old man reported that his Mazda MX3 had been stolen from his Deborah Drive home after he had left his keys on the floorboard. An hour and a half later the victim called back to say he had found his car on Aloha Street with a woman sitting in it. An officer quickly got there and detained 26-year-old Darea Darcell Correia. Her backpack contained items stolen from at least 3 other vehicle break-ins in Red Bluff, including credit cards and hunting tags. She was sentenced to 5 years probation, but she violated it and in December she was arrested again. While waiting to be transported to Tehama County Jail she tried to convince a deputy to help her escape, saying she could pay him One Million Dollars for his help. He ordered her to get in the patrol car multiple times and she refused so he physically placed her in the car. As he did, Correia grabbed his gun holster and safety strap. He forced her to release her grip on the gun, but she continued to resist. She’s been sentenced to 5 years in state prison.
