City Council Will Vote On Cannabis Fees

The Redding City Council will vote on establishing fees for cannabis businesses at Tuesday’s meeting. A licensing fee of $27,900 would apply to each of the 15 retail that will be allowed to operate. The figure is based on the cost of three city personnel that will be dedicated to the regulation and administration of the businesses. They would include a building inspector for code enforcement, a fire prevention inspector and a community service officer. Just submitting a proposal to operate a cannabis business would cost $6,000. The city also wants to charge people to grow their own plants inside their homes. The residential fee for recreational cannabis would be $100 initially and a $20 annual renewal fee. The fee structure would become effective on April 18th. The already-approved ordinance allowing such businesses becomes effective the next day.
