The City of Redding has reached a settlement with a man who cut down numerous city-owned trees in order to improve his view of the river. In early 2016 Glenn Paulk Sr, who has a house on Lake Redding Drive, felled 29 trees on city property next to the Sacramento River Trail. He had no permit and no authorization to do so. The city filed suit and, after several continuances in the court case, a negotiated settlement was reached and Paulk agreed to pay the city $15,000. The city had previously said the trees have a replacement value of over $30,000. The criminal part of the case was settled last year when Paulk entered a plea of no contest on a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to 3 years probation and 24 hours of community service.
