Bicyclist Killed In Collision With Motorcycle Near Shasta Dam

A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a motorcycle near Shasta Dam Tuesday night. A little after 7 O’clock, the victim was riding a Cervelo, which is a high-end brand of bicycle. He was riding east on Shasta Dam Boulevard about a mile-and-a-half west of Lake Boulevard when he was struck head-on by a Honda motorcycle ridden by 28-year-old Richard Machado of Marysville. The bicyclist was declared dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been determined. Machado suffered major injuries. He’s in critical condition Wednesday morning at Mercy Medical Center. The CHP says both riders were wearing helmets and they’re still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
