Crash Knocks Out Power In Happy Valley Area

Crash Knocks Out Power In Happy Valley Area

A driver was counted as fortunate after a crash in Happy Valley Wednesday morning. A little after 9:30AM, a woman was driving a Kia Optima eastbound on Hawthorne Avenue and failed to make a sl8ght curve in the roadway near Lulu Lane. The car hit a tree, tore out a couple of hundred feet of fence, hit another tree and took down two utility poles and power lines. Incredibly, she suffered only complaints of pain, but was taken by ambulance as a precaution. It’s a good thing there was no passenger in the car because that side was mangled, according to CHP Officer Marcos Castillo. The CHP is still investigating to determine if speed was factor in the crash. Area homes were without electricity until repairs were made.
