A detached garage in West Redding that was built in the 1930’s was destroyed by an intense fire Thursday afternoon. The shop building was located behind a house on North Street near Almond Avenue. There were a lot of belongings in the way that firefighters had to scramble over to get to the burning building. Neighboring homes were just a few feet away so firefighters immediately had to be concerned about protecting them. The value of the loss is estimated at $35,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
