A Tehama County convicted killer is suspected in the murder of his cellmate in prison. Sunday 28-year-old Robert Delong Jr. was found unresponsive in his cell at High Desert State Prison in Susanville. Life saving efforts were attempted but Delong was declared dead about a half hour later. The Placer County man had been at High Desert since 2014, serving a 9 year sentence for burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession. The suspect in Delong’s death is his cellmate, 40-year-old Robert Stockton. He was convicted of first degree murder in Tehama County and sentenced in 1995 to life in prison with the possibility of parole. State officials are investigating.
