April Unemployment Rate Lowest Ever Recorded In Shasta County

The unemployment rate in Shasta County has hit yet another record low. The 4.9% rate for April is the lowest April rate ever reported by the Employment Development Department, down sharply from the 6.2% reported in April of last year. Shasta County employers added 1200 jobs last month, according to EDD Labor Market Analyst Sheila Stock. California’s rate fell to a record low of 4.2%. The average worker in the Redding area earned $22.76 last year, which is 6% below the national average of $24.34
