Redding Firefighters were scrambling Tuesday night when simultaneous vegetation fires broke out in different parts of town. It was around 5:30PM when the first fire was reported off of Grandview Avenue and Stokes Court in South Redding. The other fire was reported about ten minutes later on Jaxon Way off White River Drive in North Redding. Both fires were contained at about an acre with no structural damage. Fire investigators say the Grandview fire was caused by a homeless cooking fire, while the fire in North Redding was caused by somebody using a lawnmower, ironically in an attempt to create defensible space for their home.
