A literally underground community in East Redding was cleared out Wednesday morning. There’s a network of storm drains beneath the area of Lowes, Safeway and Taylor Motors, with large tunnels extending in different directions. Apparently a number of homeless people set up camp in the underground network, and also use it as a means of getting around. The Redding Police task force that clears homeless camps is making P.A. announcements that they’ll be clearing out those tunnels and securing the gates.
