Police Say Stabbing At Kent’s Meats Was In Self Defence

An ongoing dispute between a man and his stepdaughter’s boyfriend led to a stabbing Tuesday in Southeast Redding. George Barker had a restraining order against him as a result of previous incidents which prohibited him from being near Wayne Hamm. The two men apparently encountered each other in the parking lot of Kent’s Meats on Airport Road. After some sort of altercation, barker suffered a knife wound to his shoulder area, according to Redding Police. Barker was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening wound. An investigation led police to conclude that it was likely an injury inflicted in self defense, so no charges were brought against Hamm. The district attorney’s office will review the case for possible charges.
