A Cottonwood man was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with beating up his sister. At 11:30PM Tuesday night, Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to a home on Starr Road in Cottonwood. 33-year-old Candace Guillen said that she had been in a fight with her brother, 43-year-old Shayne Arias. She said he punched and kicked her over 40 times, adding that at one point she was on the floor as he repeatedly kicked her with his heavy work boots and shouted that he was going to kill her. Arias was gone when deputies arrived. A search of the area was done with help from a CHP helicopter, but he couldn’t be found. Just before 3AM Arias called to say he wanted to turn himself in. He was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.
