A local forger has been sentenced to prison. Tonya Lavon Taylor entered pleas of no contest to 7 felony counts on May 4th. They include non-sufficient funds charges involving 33 checks written to local businesses, for which she’s agreed to pay over $25,000 in reparations. She also pled to forgery and 5 counts of escape. She had been released to alternative custody to serve a sentence for theft-related crimes but she failed to meet the requirements of her monitoring and continued to write bad checks. On Friday Taylor was sentenced to 8 years in state prison.
