Parolee Attempts To Run From Pursuing Officers In Corning

A Corning parolee was captured early Friday morning while trying to flee from police. Officers in the area of Fourth Street and Tehama Street came across a vehicle that looked like it had been ransacked. Nearby they spotted a man on a bicycle with no lights. They ordered him to stop but he pedaled quickly away. He was chased for a couple of blocks until he tried to jump off the bike and hit the ground running. The maneuver failed, he lost his footing and he just hit the ground. Garrett Thompson is on active parole. He reportedly admitted to having a fixed blade knife concealed in his waistband and to being under the influence of Meth. He was booked into jail without bail.
