Weekend Fires In Tehama & Glenn Counties Burn Several Homes

A fire that destroyed homes west of Corning was caused by sparks thrown from a welder, according to Cal-Fire investigators. The Apple Fire started just after 2 O’clock Saturday off of Apple Road and Paskenta Road. The fire is now 95% contained after burning 2,956 acres, along with 3 homes and 6 outbuildings.

Cal-Fire crews are on their way to full containment of a fire that broke out in Glenn County at around 3:30PM Saturday afternoon. The cause of the Chrome Fire is still under investigation. Located off Highway 162 in the Elk Creek area, the blaze is estimated at 2,290 acres with 65% containment. One outbuilding was destroyed. Evacuations have been lifted and electricity to the area has been restored by PG&E.
