Public Will Help Form REU 20 Year Plan

Policy decisions made following a Redding Electric Utility Public meeting Wednesday evening will affect 20 years of rate affordability, reliability and environmental sustainability. State imposed mandates on renewable energy and other issues will cause an increase in the price of electricity, so REU is putting together an integrated resource plan to prepare for the coming changes. 3,000 Redding households have their power shut off each year for non-payment, and many families struggle to pay their bills, so a rise in costs could cause widespread suffering. Public input is key to developing the 20 year plan. An initial workshop was held in February, and the second one is Wednesday from 6 to 7:30PM at the Sequoia Middle School Auditorium.
