Parolee Arrested After Crash On I-5

A collision between two cars on Interstate Five near Lake Shasta on Friday ruined the day for both drivers, but in much different ways. Shortly after Noon 65-year-old Edwin Sutton of Milwauki, Oregon was southbound a little south of Bridge Bay in the fast lane when he allowed his 2004 Mercury to veer into the slow lane and strike the front of a 2017 Nissan driven by 30-year-old Jonothan Pelaske of Lakehead. The Mercury continued off the freeway, hit a dirt embankment, overturned and finally struck a tree before coming to rest. Sutton was taken to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries. Pelaske, who is on parole, apparently gave a CHP Officer a fake name but was ultimately arrested for the false identification. The CHP says drugs and alcohol were not involved.
