Gas Tax Money Will Pave Highway 299 In Trinity County

Cal-Trans is paving eight miles of Highway 299 in Trinity County with funding provided by the recent increase in gas taxes. The roadwork will be done from east of Little French Creek to east of the Manzanita Creek Bridge near the Community of Big Bar. The section of Highway 299 runs along the Trinity River and is a key connector between Redding and the coast. The 1.3 Million Dollar project was awarded to Tullis Incorporated and crews have been working on the project since early June. One was traffic control will be in place Monday through Friday from 7AM to 4PM. Funding for the project was made available through the recent gas taxes. The tax increase is expected to provide 1.8 Billion Dollars annually to maintain and rehabilitate roadways across the state.
