Drunk Driver Arrested For Felony DUI, Hit-And-Run

A drunk driver left a trail of destruction before trying to get away on foot Monday night, according to Redding Police. At 6:20PM, a 2002 Chevy Avalanche barreled down Nicolet Lane off East Bonneyview and struck a trash can and a fence in front of a house, then continued down the road and struck a mailbox in front of a different home before hitting another fence and driving away. Responding officers checked the neighborhood and in front of a house on Elm Street they found the damaged truck, which had a missing tire and was resting on the rim. The driver jumped out and ran into the house, through the back and over the back fence, then ran through neighboring backyards. A CHP helicopter joined Redding Police in the search and eventually Dozer the RPD K9 tracked down 39-year-old Anthony Michael Barone in a backyard. He was taken into custody without a fight and after a stop at the hospital he was booked into jail for felony DUI, resisting arrest, and hit-and-run.
