Coroner ID’s Victims Of Fatal Crash Near Bella Vista

The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the two people killed in a fiery crash in Bella Vista that sparked a vegetation fire. On the afternoon of July 8th, a Honda was driving westbound on Highway 299 near Woodman Drive when it left the roadway and crashed into a culvert, then burst into flames. Both occupants were killed. They have been identified as 80-year-old Harold Wilhelm of Whitmore and 83-year-old Helen Palmer of Redding. The car fire spread to dry grass and brush and continued to grow, eventually burning an estimated 30 acres. The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
