Carr Fire Assistance Center Expected To Move

The local assistance center for people affected by the Carr Fire will remain open for just two more days at Shasta High School before moving to another as-yet-unannounced location. The City of Redding and Shasta County have set up a website that batches together many of the resources available for Carr Fire recovery. It’s at shastareddingrecovers.org . The federal major disaster declaration made on Saturday means that individuals can now apply for assistance from FEMA. Help is available with rental assistance, home repairs, uninsured property losses and other disaster-related needs not covered by private insurance. FEMA assistance is nontaxable and will not affect eligibility for social security, medical or other public benefits. Applications can be made at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
