NPU Makes Two Drug Arrests Outside Redding Library

Two people who are well known to Redding Police were arrested outside the library Thursday. Officers with the Neighborhood Police Unit were patrolling near the Redding Library due to reports of suspicious people seen loitering in the area. Officers contacted 23-year-old Angelica Renee Gilchrist near the entrance. She apparently went to the library with 50-year-old Marty Lee Winn. A records check showed that Gilchrist was on felony probation for possession of stolen property. Winn was found to be on post release supervision due to a felony pursuit that occurred in 2009. Winn had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for that case, but only served 8 years. Officers had arrested Winn in April of 2017 for possession of about 6.5 ounces of Meth. He is still awaiting trial for that case. Redding Police say that Winn has been arrested 26 times and when police spoke with Winn Thursday he apparently admitted to being under the influence of Meth. He was arrested again and booked into the Shasta County Jail. Gilchrist was searched and was found to be in possession of Heroin consistent with narcotics sales. She apparently admitted to going to library to sell the drugs to another woman. Gilchrist has been arrested 11 times and she was once again arrested.
