Hirz Fire Continues To Grow Near Lake Shasta

The Hirz Fire near Lake Shasta has grown to 14,709 acres with containment up to 11%. Firing operations continued over the weekend on the western edge of the fire. The goal is to create a line and keep the fire from spreading any closer to residents along the I-5 corridor. Structure protection remains in place for the Bollibokka Fishing Club and other structures. Evacuation orders remain in effect for residents of Old Mill Road, Bonnie Vista Lane, top of the Hill Trail, Hirz Mountain Road, and the north side of Gillman Road. There is no evacuation center, but residents can contact the Red Cross for help if needed. Gillman Road continues to have a soft road closure. Several campgrounds and boat launches are closed, but Baily Cove, Fisherman’s Point, Centimudi, and Jones Valley are open. There will be a community meeting to discuss the Hirz Fire Monday night at 6PM at the McCloud High School.
