Stone Fire In Modoc National Forests Continues To Grow

A fire in the Modoc National Forest has grown to 23,221 acres. Containment on the Stone Fire is now at 12%.Crews had favorable conditions overnight and the fire burned directly along the fires eastern edge from Howard’s Hulch to the southeast. Crews have been working to mop up the fire on the eastern edge along Highway 139 and west of Canby. Activity was mostly on the fires western edge and the Happy Camp Lookout has been wrapped and prepared. Two residences have been evacuated. Crews are watching the weather and hoping that thunderstorms don’t materialize.
