An apparently homeless man who police say was murdered by two other homeless people last week has been identified by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office as 22-year-old Joshua Powell-Hatwig of Redding. At 10:45 last Thursday morning, police responded to a report of a dead man under a bridge on Favretto Avenue between Fell and State Streets in the Parkview neighborhood. Evidence was collected at the scene and interviews were done, leading to the arrests two acquaintances of Powell-Hatwig. Lindsey Ann Waite and Russell David Karfs Lewis, both 22-years-old, allegedly confessed to the killing. The method has not been made public. The victim’s family has been notified.
